In their words:

Reflections on the process, the relationship, and the impact of therapy and supervision.

“I came to Ria after struggling for a long time with PTSD, depression, and severe anxiety attacks. I’d also been dealing with bouts of derealisation and anxiety-related tinnitus. I was completely burnt out. Before working with Ria, I’d made no progress, in fact, I was getting worse under a different therapist and felt completely lost and hopeless.

From my very first session with Ria, things began to change. I immediately started making real progress and felt understood for the first time. I started to understand the problem itself and move forward. Over time, my symptoms became totally manageable, and I was able to get back to living a life that feels worthwhile again.

I went from dreading therapy sessions to genuinely looking forward to them. Ria’s approach, warmth, and skill made all the difference. Eventually, we both agreed I’d improved enough to drop down to very occasional sessions. Something I never thought possible at the start.

I can’t recommend Ria highly enough. She quite literally helped me get my life back.

“Ria for put me at ease immediately and is a great support to me. I struggle to open up but have always felt very comfortable talking to her.

I have seen other therapists over the years but have found Ria to be the most personable. I know if I’m having a bad time between sessions that Ria will be able to help me to reset and feel strong and able to carry on.

I honestly don’t know where I’d be without her support and advice and I am very grateful and thankful for her help and professional friendship. ”

“Ria is a wonderful, truly authentic and compassionate therapist. She has a calming, supportive and empowering presence. She is skilled in CBT, ACT and EMDR. Ria has been my colleague and clinical supervisor while previously working in the NHS. She has the ability to create a supervision space which enables open and honest reflection, which is crucial as a therapist. I always felt safe and supported in my supervision sessions with Ria. I know that my clinical practice has improved substantially thanks to the support Ria gave me through supervisions.

Ria has been pivotal in my professional development in CBT, ACT and EMDR. Ria has been hugely encouraging to me personally. She supported me from my ambitions to retrain as a psychological therapist, through my training and work as a qualified practitioner. I have also delivered CBT skills training with Ria to physical health professionals in the NHS. She was a joy to work alongside, her commitment to helping other health professionals to improve their psychological skills always shining through. Always happy to take part in skills demos and openly reflect on her own practice. She is skilled in working in health psychology, with people living with persistent pain, cancer and long term health conditions.

Ria is committed to supporting people to improve their quality of life, to live well with whatever difficulties they face. Therapy with Ria is about collaborating, working together to make meaningful, lasting change in line with people’s own values. I would highly recommend Ria as a therapist, supervisor and mentor. I would recommend Ria to my family and friends. I am extremely grateful to have crossed paths with her.”

— Amy Newberry, Psychological Therapist

“Ria is a wonderfully compassionate therapist who creates a safe space for her clients to explore and grow. She has a gift for creating a space where clients feel truly heard and supported, while also giving them the practical tools they need to move forward. Her collaborative approach means change happens at the right pace, making it both meaningful and lasting. Her specialist knowledge in supporting people living with long-term conditions, including those affected by cancer, means she brings real expertise and sensitivity to work that requires both. I would highly recommend Ria to my family and friends.”
