About me

My name is Ria Lowrie, I’m an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, registered with the BABCP. I have over 17 years of experience helping people navigate life’s challenges and improve their well-being. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, or difficulties related to physical health conditions, I’m here to support you.

I specialise in evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which can help you break unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Together, we’ll work on practical strategies to improve your mood, enhance your day-to-day functioning, and guide you toward the life you want to live.

I’m also trained in EMDR and third-wave CBT therapies like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These approaches can be especially helpful for processing difficult experiences, building resilience, and focusing on what truly matters to you.

What to expect

Starting therapy is a brave and empowering step. It’s an opportunity to reflect, grow, and make meaningful changes that may feel difficult to achieve on your own. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that might be holding you back and work to create new ways of thinking and acting that open up possibilities for a brighter future.

In our initial sessions, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and discuss your current challenges. This is your space to explore whether therapy feels like the right fit for you. I’ll guide you through the process, explain what therapy involves, and ensure you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way

My approach

I will provide you with you a kind, compassionate space for us to work together utilising a range of psychological approaches to break down overwhelming problems into manageable parts. You’ll learn how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected and how to make changes that help you feel more in control.

Sometimes, we find ourselves stuck in cycles of thinking and reacting that make life harder. Therapy can help you recognise and break these cycles, so you can respond to life’s challenges in ways that align with your values and goals. Over time, my aim is to empower you to become your own therapist, equipped with tools to maintain your psychological balance now and in the future.

Living with a health condition?

Living with a health condition can feel overwhelming. You don’t have to face it alone.

Navigating life with a long-term health condition can bring challenges that go far beyond the physical. You might be feeling exhausted by persistent pain, overwhelmed after a recent diagnosis, or carrying the emotional weight of medical trauma. Chronic conditions can affect every part of life, mood, relationships, identity, and even hope for the future.

My passion lies in supporting individuals living with physical health problems. I offer a space that is warm, compassionate, and free of judgment, where your experiences will be heard and validated. Drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I help clients build a more supportive relationship with their symptoms, gently reconnect with what matters most, and regain a sense of agency.

Whether you're feeling lost in the system, burnt out by ongoing symptoms, or simply in need of a space to process what's happening, you're not alone, and you're very welcome here.
